This adorable culinary couple from Seattle took off to Oahu for their wedding celebration. Lucky for us they invited us along! We went for a beautiful stroll on an empty beach prior to their ceremony under the palms at Dillingham Ranch. It was our first time shooting at the ranch, we had heard so many good things and it completely lived up to the hype. We received a “wedding blessing” in the form of a downpour during dinner. Blessings seem to be abundant during receptions on Oahu. Jenn and Paolo are so natural and were so easy on their wedding day. They embraced the Aloha spirit in every sense of the word.

The nicest folks you can ever imagine were married at the cutest church you ever did see in Port Gamble (officially my new favorite wedding spot on the Kitsap Peninsula). I knew things were off to a good start when I entered the bride’s rental house and the first thing I noticed was the familiar and delicious smell of filipino food cooking. I wasn’t feeling great that morning so I had only eaten a banana on the drive to Port Gamble. Within minutes of walking in the door Leslie’s aunties were offering me chicken soup and ginger ale. I’m convinced that world wide filipino aunties are mind readers and know exactly what you need before you even know that you need it. We were greeted with huge smiles all day long. We must have been asked a hundred times during the reception if we had eaten yet. What struck me as so special was how we instantly felt like we were welcomed into the family. I can’t wait to revisit all those friendly faces while we edit this wedding. It’s easy to see how Leslie and Aubrey came to be such a warm, positive, open minded and loving pair.

Seattle / Weddings

elopement, alderbrook resort- beth & wayne

Beth and Wayne traveled all the way from England for their elopement. When they first wrote us they were thinking about Hawaii but since we were going to be in the Northwest for August I convinced them to come here instead. She asked my input on places to stay and to wed. It was hard to narrow down my favorite northwest list. But Alderbrook Resort has had my heart from the first time I stayed there when I was eight years old. Back then it wasn’t fancy, but it’s always had the amazing waterfront location on Hood Canal and that awesome covered pool. We stayed in a cabin onsite and my mom left the stove on all day while we were away. The wall was red hot when we returned and we couldn’t believe that we almost burnt the whole place down. My Dad forgot to pack his swim trunks but the gift shop sold paper shorts just for that reason. At the gift shop this time around Beth and Wayne got the cutest octopus hoodies, which were perfect for their nuptial bonfire. We had such fun with these two! Even though we live so far apart we had so much in common. Wayne is a talented photographer and Beth his lovely assistant. We love photographing other photographer’s weddings because they trust our process completely, this pair was no exception. After their wedding they continued their adventure with a road trip in a rented RV all over the wild west. From what I’ve heard Alderbrook takes the cake and stole their hearts too. How could it not?
