many more beauties to come from this august wedding, we can't wait to share more. whitney and dan were a complete dream to work with….
we have been on the go for the past three weeks. this last weekend was the summit of our wedding mountain. we shot two weddings in new york. it was beautiful, exciting and a little bit exhausting. on our way out on day two, we did a little fist bump as we zoomed down the elevator. we walked out onto the bustling street with cameras hanging every which way. smiling while dragging our feet. knowing that it's all down hill from here.
we are in boston this week, waiting to shoot a wedding at a summer camp on saturday. can't wait for this one, our timeline starts off with canoe races. oh boy!
why not share just a little more of this cuteness?
just in case you missed the feature over on once wed, i thought i would share the details over here as well. one of my favorite elements from this wedding was their approach to food. cara and james decided to pass on a heavy buffet and plated meal, instead they served light courses which kept people moving and didn't interrupt any badminton games. ciao thyme did and amazing job with the food and presentation, for dinner they passed petite delicious courses. several dishes were handed out in white take out boxes and paper cones. food that I remember: salad, breaded onions and beans, pesto pasta, chicken skewers. for desert they had a gelato
cart (yum) and cake, along with berry pie and nanaimo bars. the
reception had a lively feel since people could move around while they
ate. the passed courses allowed people to really enjoy
the lawn games that were set up outside the tent. when i met with
cara and james this winter they had just started to plan, at that point
they already knew that tasty food and lots of games were the most
important thing to them. they also agreed that they would pass on
dancing and focus on bean bags and croquet instead. toward the end of the party an impromptu dance circle started and at one point james was dancing in the middle. then he suddenly stopped and said " hey, I thought
we said no dancing"?!?! a quick shrug and giggle and he continued on doing his thing. it was so cool to see everything that they
envisioned (and some extras) come together so perfectly on
this beautiful summer evening. below is what cara wrote up for once wed (i loved hearing her perspective!):
"One of my favorite projects
from the wedding planning process was designing the save the dates and
invitations. I worked with Tara at Ephemera Custom Letterpress
to get them printed which was such an easy and great experience. My
friends and family were huge in helping with decorations – my
bridesmaids and I handmade each flag banner that was strung in the tent
and between the trees, my mom sewed all of the beautiful table runners
and my dad built the adorable lemonade stand. We couldn’t have asked
for a better experience with our caterer – Jessica and Mataio of Ciao
Thyme were an absolute dream to work with, and their food and service
were beyond all words. My
bridesmaids and I wanted to do something unique and fun to help us get
ready the morning of the wedding and through a connection we found The
Hairstream Studio, an airstream trailer redesigned and outfitted as a
mobile hair salon that actually came to our site on the day of the
wedding. I also wanted to make note of
Poco Carretto Gelato, whose adorable little cart fit right into the
playful atmosphere of our wedding and served some of the most delicious
gelato and sorbetto I have ever had in my life. And finally, Heather at One Love Photo was so sweet and friendly and helpful – and amazingly talented!"
