Tacoma

We’ve been enjoying a nice slow month at home. We finally found the time and gumption to paint our living and dining rooms white. We’ve been enjoying our free weekends wandering antique stores from Olympia to Bremerton. Coincidentally one of our favorite treasure troves called Rampizi is located right here in Tacoma on Antique Row. The trouble is that this place is rarely open and when it is open we are almost always working. What a treat it was to find ourselves up in Rampizi on a Saturday evening admiring the goods while David the owner serenaded us on his hodgepodge drum set. We loaded our station wagon with a mid century buffet, Italian side table and a fun piece of beatnik art to finish off our room re-do. I found this great article in the Tacoma Weekly that describes the magic of Rampizi. While perusing the shop I thought fondly of Sarah and Rob’s wedding, our antique loving couple who were married right up the street in a Tacoma warehouse last summer.

Sarah and Rob created, planned and constructed almost everything in the warehouse space. Their friends and family also contributed in baking pies, making salsa, growing and arranging the flowers, plus setting up and breaking down the space. One of our favorite details were the handmade pallet dinner tables that Rob and Sarah’s dad constructed just for the wedding. We were lucky enough to be one of the recipients of a table after the wedding! We used our table for our display at the Seattle Wedding Show and now it’s found a home in our backyard. I can’t wait to host a summer dinner party centered around our Sarah and Rob “love table”. From Sarah, “I was a little surprised by how much work and time it takes to plan a wedding when you do it yourself. But it was a great gauge of how we will work together to create one cohesive experience”.
Right after their ceremony we wandered up into Rampizi for a few portraits with Sarah and Rob. It was one of my favorite portrait sessions ever, I could have stayed there forever. While we were snapping I noticed all of our eyes shifting and searching for a treasure. A true scavenger never rests! Sarah and Rob are our kind of people. They are creative folks, who love antiques and random collections, cats, succulents, vintage cars, tacos, handmade projects, re-purposed goods, globe lights and pie. And that’s what their wedding was all about!
