we’re back. went away for an adventure in maine. didn’t get the rest i was planning on. we were busy the whole time. jon taught 11 people how to make miniature pots from start to finish at the IGMA guild school. he is such a natural at encouraging others to do their best and to be proud. watching him in action made me very proud. whenever we had a few spare moments we would slip away to the beach to collect shells, rocks and porcelain broken pieces. kept wondering why i don’t enjoy the beaches here more? this summer i will. i promised myself.
met a new friend, a painter named susan adam. she paints from photographs in a loose, lively, colorful approach. susan arranged for me to do two portraits sessions while i was in castine. the first one was of a strong willed little girl determined not to look at me. she preferred testing the boundaries of the shore and throwing rocks in the water. even so i think i snuck some cute ones while she wasn’t looking. the second set was for susan’s sister. three darling kids and one baby, running around a 200+ year farmhouse. i couldn’t believe my luck. there was too much cute in one space for me to capture. i am already planning my return for another shoot. for now i will enjoy the photos i have and anxiously await for the film to return from the lab. much more on maine to come……
