using a camera allows us to see the world in vivid color or black and white, rectangles or squares. in frozen fractions of seconds. it encourages us to observe our surroundings with intense focus. to find beauty in the ordinary. to isolate details that may otherwise be overlooked. below are few of my favorite wedding squares from this summer.

i can not explain in words how sweet these two love birds are. i can not explain how much they warm our hearts. i can not thank these two enough for asking us to travel to wonderful oahu to capture their wedding day! 
i can’t tell you how difficult it was to pick just a few. this is just a tiny preview of all the beauty today had to offer. i promised myself i would only post three shots before bed, that was impossible.

love weddings where other languages are spoken. it’s like i’m on a little trip abroad. just how like ordering breakfast in spanish can get you something unexpected. or asking for directions in italian can lead you onto a different path. this is how it feels to photograph a wedding where i don’t know everyone’s language and i can’t run the show like normal. the process actually becomes simplified with more sign language and lots of smiles. maki and boyan’s wedding was a perfect celebration of diversity and the blending of cultures. their families traveled from japan and bulgaria to come together to celebrate their love for each other.
shooting weddings at Lakewold Gardens is always a treat. my fabulous friend kate has worked there for years and is in charge of all it’s beautifulness! i think of kate as i wander about, remembering her wedding last september under one of her favorite old trees. love wedding days that start with a nervous sprinkle and end up with a perfect dose of sunshine. last night there was a crisp bite in the air as the sun went down. you could feel fall in the air. today i happened upon this quote, which made me already long for spring. "i want to do with you what spring does to the cherry trees". and i thought of maki and boyan as they start a new life together. i thought of their kindness to each other and their soft laughter and kisses. am pretty sure that quote was written just for them.
