of the fifteen eighth graders that i photographed while back in maine. it just so happened to be graduation week at the blue hill waldorf school while i was there. my friend susan's son was one of the fifteen graduating and she asked me to capture his special class. most of the class had been together since first grade and had formed a tight bond. next year they will spread out into different directions and high schools. they will wade new waters and start their own unique adolescent adventures. each one will embrace their new found maturity as they slowly leave their youth behind.
on that muggy and buggy june afternoon, we walked briskly as i tried to keep them somewhat together and out of the road. i wanted their input and for them to come up with photo ideas. most were eager to play which made it fun. and the ones that were not, i started to lose along the way. eventually it came down to perfect set of three and then just two.
or would that make four again?
