We hit it off with Heather and Ben immediately. We’ve got some key things in common like photography, teaching, wedding pinatas and Volkwagens. First thing we spotted outside of BeDillon’s restaurant and Cactus Garden was their green Volkswagen van adoringly named “The Pickle”. Jon eagerly hopped in the driver seat, while the rest of us piled in for portraits around downtown Casa Grande. Jon and I had a huge colorful wedding pinata when we celebrated our elopement. We were thrilled to find out that Heather and Ben not only had one but TWO wedding pinatas planned for their party (one for the kids and one for adults). The chaotic pile up and possible danger associated with pinatas always gives me a rush. Add in, that one of the pinatas is a horse filled with liquor and you have yourself an awesome party.
We loved the funky cactus garden as the background for their ceremony and reception. The garden and restaurant is owned by a family friend and Heather grew up spending lots of weekends at BeDillons listening to her Dad play music. Heather and Ben still make BeDillions their date night spot. Naturally, it was a perfect setting for their intimate ceremony. Heather and Ben’s Cactus Garden Wedding was featured over on Offbeat Bride recently. Lots of great details and insight from Heather and more photos over on the Offbeat Bride Post.
