This is an anniversary post. Jenni and Thomas are an irresistible pair of architects. At their wedding Jenni gave me a screen printed poster she had made with an image of a Hasselblad camera. Every time I look at it I think of her sweet smile. These two recently moved to Nevada to start their own design firm called Parallel Lines Studio and they also celebrated two years as husband and wife! I decided it was about time to share their photos on our blog. Jenni shared this story about their 1st wedding anniversary. “Thomas and I were with friends floating the Yakima River. After we floated the river, we boarded the bus for the ride back to the departure point and found ourselves surrounded by a group of people celebrating a wedding from the day before. One of the girls turned to us and said, “I think I recognize you two from somewhere, did you have a wedding in that big red barn last fall?” Turns out the whole bus was our catering team from Ravishing Radish, the company that made our amazing wedding day feast! They recalled how much fun they had at our wedding. It was incredible, half way across the state, connecting with these people we barely knew yet had been such an integral part of our day…it was just fantastic and one of those ‘everything is connected’ moments.”
Most important for us was to incorporate things Nevada and Washington at our wedding. Thomas is from Ely, a small town in Nevada where the majority of his family still lives. Washington is where my family resides and is in the place where Thomas and I met and fell in love. All colors reflecting the natural environments of Nevada and Washington were used as inspiration for the day. The big blue open skies and sagebrush of Nevada mixed with the overcast skies and evergreens of the Pacific Northwest. Ocean Chalcedony (color of the gem in my engagement ring), Grey, Juniper, and Sage.
We enlisted some crafty friends to make these origami geometric balls. It took a lot of rom-com watching and many swear words to get us through making what seemed like a million balls. It was worth it, they made up our backdrop during the ceremony and are now precariously placed all over our house.
My favorite place for wedding inspiration was this blog actually. I just drooled over your photographs of other couple’s weddings. I would just LIVE in their photos if I could, and it was through those other real couples that gave me the most inspiration. 
Our vows were written in “Field Notes” – these little notebooks Thomas and I use to sketch places we’ve been and ideas we have. These sketchbooks are also what we gave as a favor to our guests.
As I was walking down the aisle I noticed the string trio had transitioned from playing traditional classical music to Sigur Ros’ “Hoppipolla” – a favorite song of mine! Conspiring with Thomas without me knowing, the dear friend who set us up with the string trio also bought the sheet music as a wedding gift so the trio could learn it 2 weeks before the wedding. 
Weddings are really just a big party with your best friends so “FUN IT UP!” When we got stressed about a decision we used this phrase and it inevitably led to the right choice. On our wedding day all the little things we stressed over just fell into the background, and all of a sudden we were in a room with all the people we love most. The cloud nine feeling lasted for days…and it still comes back when we think about the day, listen to the playlists we created, or break out the photo album.
